About
Everent is a 3D open-world Exploration Platformer in which the player controls Ollie, a boarder navigating the vast sky world of Stratos aboard a physics-driven hoverboard.
The core fantasy is expressive aerial and grounded movement, boosting, powersliding, tricking, and grinding rails across a world full of points of interest, time trials, and destructible environments. The game draws inspiration from Skate, Rocket League, and Breath of the Wild, combining the feel-first board control of skating games, the Breath of the Wild-style tutorial philosophy, and the exploration-driven open world of sandbox games.

Sand Dunes Playthrough
Sand Dunes Design Goals
The player's first open-world region, designed to introduce the core gameplay loop
Serves as an extension of the tutorial by rewarding the completion of each point of interest (POI) with a new gameplay mechanic before allowing the player to leave the region
POIs naturally connect to one another, ensuring players experience every required mechanic before progressing
Early encounters and POIs are intentionally simpler, allowing players to gradually master Everent's movement and mechanics
Completing the third POI allows the player to destroy the first of four spires, marking the beginning of the player's journey toward the final boss while unlocking access to either the Skyscraper Graveyard or The Fracture
Duney Dash
Serves as the player’s first interaction with a time trial and point of interest
Introduces the player to the jellyfish bounce upgrade and they unlock it upon completion
Very straightforward, with the critical path primarily being a straight line with some minor turns to avoid obstacles
Has a hidden, more difficult, path with a boost pad that rewards skilled players and encourages discovery and replaying
Snaking Sands
Introduces the player to the rail grinding mechanic
Is noticeably more challenging than Duney Dash while remaining relatively simple and straightforward
Uses the surrounding landscape as the primary method of player guidance, making it unique among the game's POIs
Features a hidden, more challenging path with a boost pad that rewards exploration and replaying the level
Dilapidated Dunes
Introduces the player to the wind tunnel mechanic
Combines Jellyfish Bounces and rail grinding to test the player's ability to chain multiple movement mechanics together
Is the most challenging POI in the Sand Dunes while maintaining a straightforward critical path
Presents an obvious opportunity to perform a challenging trick for a speed boost and shorter route, encouraging players to experiment and take risks
Final Boss Fight Playthrough
Final Boss Fight Design Goals
Serves as both the gameplay and narrative climax, culminating in the destruction of the Halcyon Heart, the force responsible for Stratos' ruin
Tests the player's mastery of every core movement mechanic through a fast-paced encounter that requires quick decision-making and execution
Rewards observant and skilled players with alternate routes and movement shortcuts
Features scripted tendril attacks positioned near the critical path to build tension and spectacle without excessively interrupting player flow
Forces players to adapt when the Halcyon Heart destroys platforms mid-encounter, encouraging quick thinking and on-the-fly route changes
Balances cinematic spectacle with engaging gameplay to deliver a satisfying mechanical and visual finale
